About The Position

A Finance Deputy serves as a member of the Finance Division and is responsible for providing excellent customer service while collecting and processing various payments received by the Sheriff’s Office. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to accurately handle financial transactions in a fast-paced public office environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, coworkers, and other agencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in cashiering, bookkeeping, accounting, banking, finance, or customer service.
  • Experience handling cash and balancing daily financial transactions.
  • Experience using accounting, tax collection, or records management software.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process payments received by the Sheriff’s Office.
  • Receive and accurately account for cash, checks, money orders, credit card payments, and electronic transactions.
  • Issue receipts and maintain detailed records of all transactions.
  • Balance cash drawers and prepare daily deposits.
  • Assist citizens in person and by telephone regarding payments, taxes, licenses, and Sheriff’s Office services.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct callers to the appropriate division or personnel.
  • Provide customer service to members of the public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Process correspondence, reports, and other administrative documents as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, criminal justice, and personnel information.
  • Comply with all Sheriff’s Office policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
