The Finance Coordinator is a member of the San Diego Finance team and is responsible for essential accounting functions related to accounts payable and accounts receivable, budget versus actual tracking for the Statewide Family Support Coordinator (SFSC) grant funded by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS).

Requirements

  • Formal accounting or bookkeeping training and/or coursework required
  • 3 + years professional work experience with accounting and bookkeeping procedures and standards
  • Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way
  • Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs
  • Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet
  • Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken

Nice To Haves

  • 4-year degree in related field strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with IRC’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements, for both the office and donors.
  • Support daily financial activities for the SFSC project: Review and post invoice journals; Resolve journal discrepancies and report to supervisor for advice as necessary.
  • Review subgrantee’s invoices and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and cost eligibility and process payments.
  • Verify funder’s reimbursements, reconcile payments with invoices, and record accurately to the accounting system.
  • Prepare grant expenditure reports for manager’s review and submission. Investigate variances and report to supervisor for direction.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team.
  • Serve as back-up to Finance Manager for key day-to-day duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
