About The Position

The Finance Co-Op will support the finance team at a fast-paced automotive manufacturing facility by assisting with financial reporting, month-end close activities, operational analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in manufacturing accounting, cost analysis, financial reporting, and business operations while working alongside finance and plant leadership. The co-op will partner with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, and Corporate Finance to support accurate financial reporting and operational decision-making. This position is ideal for students seeking meaningful accounting or finance experience with increasing responsibility.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Accounting or Business full-time.
  • Sophomore or Junior standing preferred.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week during the academic year with a structured but flexible schedule.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Completed introductory accounting and finance coursework.
  • Interested in manufacturing, operations, and business analysis.
  • Enjoys solving problems using data.
  • Dependable, eager to learn, and takes initiative.
  • Comfortable working in both an office environment and on the manufacturing floor.

Nice To Haves

  • Plex or Oracle ERP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily manufacturing performance reports (sales, production, scrap, inventory, and key operational metrics).
  • Assist with operational reporting, scrap revenue reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Verify General Ledger activity agrees with supporting subledgers, including Sales and Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform supplier reconciliations and investigate account variances.
  • Assist with monthly close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Support financial reporting, variance analysis, and audit documentation.
  • Code and submit invoices for processing and prepare monthly procurement/fuel card reconciliations.
  • Assist in resolving supplier payment discrepancies.
  • Perform Layered Process Audits throughout the manufacturing facility.
