About The Position

As the Finance/Budget Manager for The Department of Animal Science, you will direct and manage the administrative, fiscal, and budgetary operations of the Department of Animal Sciences and serve as the principal fiscal advisor to the Chair. You will be responsible for strategic budget development and planning, financial analysis and forecasting, management of state, grant, gift, local, and self-sustaining funds, oversight of payroll and personnel costing, supervision of administrative support staff, compliance monitoring, internal controls, audit coordination, and the implementation of fiscal policies and procedures. In this role, you will ensure the responsible stewardship of departmental resources and compliance with University, state, and federal regulations while supporting the department's strategic goals and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Demonstrated experience managing administrative, operational, fiscal, or business functions.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel and/or other computer software applications for reporting, analysis, and record keeping.
• Demonstrated experience developing, monitoring, reconciling, and analyzing budgets and financial reports.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated experience using computer accounting information systems and/or application software.
• Demonstrated effective managerial experience.
• Experience and knowledge of livestock operations and farm/ranch financial management.
