About The Position

The Finance Associate is an entry-level, early‑career role designed to build broad foundational experience across the Finance function at Coastal Community Bank, a unique hybrid of fintech innovation and community banking tradition. This role supports multiple teams—including Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Accounts Payable, and Financial Operations—and will gain exposure to the full spectrum of financial processes within the bank.

  • Demonstrated experience working with Excel at an advanced level (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, basic modeling).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in finance either through internship or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes under direction of senior team members.
  • Support journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial documentation.
  • Work across teams to gather, validate, and organize financial data.
  • Help maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Support preparation of internal financial reports and external audit requests.
  • Assist with daily and monthly reconciliations.
  • Assist with budget tracking, forecasting activities, and variance analysis.
  • Help build and maintain basic financial models and Excel-based reporting tools.
  • Support preparation of dashboards or presentations for leadership.
  • Support analysis of Banking‑as‑a‑Service (BaaS) program metrics.
  • Assist with operational finance tasks such as fee revenue tracking and partner settlement support.
  • Participate in cross-functional finance projects involving product, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Assist with basic loan accounting support, including maintaining loan schedules, validating data inputs, and escalating discrepancies to senior accounting staff.
  • Assist finance staff with loan accounting activities such as interest income review, loan balance tie‑outs, and data validation.
