About The Position

The Financial Associate, Project Finance, conducts financial analysis to evaluate, structure, and finance the Company’s utility - scale wind, solar, and other renewable energy project across Canada. This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of three days in office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or equivalent business experience required.
  • 4 or more years of project finance and energy industry experience required.
  • Ability to travel 5 to 15% required.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and project evaluation skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Experience working with renewable energy project finance structures.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy market dynamics and evolving regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Development, Finance, Origination, and Transactions teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to participate effectively in stakeholder discussions.
  • Advanced Excel and project-finance modeling (experience with project-finance models, sensitivity/ scenario analysis, and debt-sizing mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with PowerBI, Tableau or comparable BI tools is asset.
  • Functional competencies in teamwork, building, strategic partnerships, attention to detail, continuous improvement, and business acumen.
  • Although French is the primary language in the Montréal office, collaboration with—and the drafting of updates and reports for—international clients and partners requires an excellent level of English.

Responsibilities

  • Supports financial analysis, investment appraisal, economic evaluation, and risk assessment of wind, solar, storage, and other renewable energy project opportunities. This includes the impact of Clean Technology ITC eligibility, refundability, and labour-requirement compliance on project returns.
  • Builds, maintains, and operates financial models used to evaluate project development opportunities, transactions, and financing structures.
  • Assists developers in screening and evaluating potential projects and supports preparation of financial analysis for PPA bids and other offtake structures.
  • Provides financial insight during project development and transaction discussions to support negotiations and commercial decision-making.
  • Evaluates project assumptions, identifies key value drivers, and assesses the financial impact of stakeholder proposals or commercial terms.
  • Participates in external-facing discussions with landowners, Indigenous partners, lenders, investors, and advisors where financial considerations are relevant.
  • Represents the finance perspective in stakeholder discussions by explaining project economics, assumptions, sensitivities, and financial trade-offs.
  • Supports Development in structuring landowner royalty and participation frameworks consistent with market benchmarks and project economics.
  • Supports financial discussions with Indigenous partners on equity, participation, Impact Benefit Agreement economics, and partnership flow-through structures.
  • Supports engagement with lenders and investors by validating financing assumptions, preparing financial analysis, and incorporating market feedback into project models.
  • Applies lessons learned across projects and markets to improve financial assumptions, modeling approaches, and project structuring across the portfolio.
  • Supports Finance and Transactions leadership in preparing materials for investor-facing or structured finance discussions to ensure alignment with company strategy and commercial objectives.
  • Bilingual French/English requirement, full professional proficiency, written and spoken, in both languages. Required daily interaction with English-speaking counterparts outside Quebec and review of English-language documentation.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
