About The Position

As Tacit doubles its headcount over the next year, this role will own the finance and operations infrastructure, including spend controls, contracts, cap table, and budget tracking. The individual will ensure financial accuracy, manage contracts, maintain a clean cap table, and provide leadership with insights into the company's financial standing against its plan. This role will also address new operational questions that arise, such as evaluating new functions, establishing new processes, or conducting diligence on new initiatives. The position reports directly to the CEO.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years in finance, ideally with experience as a controller or senior FP&A person within a venture-backed startup.
  • Experience with Series A or later rounds and understanding of investor-grade financial hygiene.
  • Comfortable operating as the entire finance function day-to-day; a hands-on doer role.
  • Real experience with tools like Ramp (or comparable spend platform), Pulley or Carta (cap table), and QuickBooks or similar.
  • Comfortable reading and negotiating commercial contracts, understanding personal limits and when to escalate to legal counsel.
  • Ability to thrive in a varied role with both detailed finance tasks and strategic modeling.
  • Precise and low-drama approach to financial and compliance matters.
  • Comfortable in a hardware-plus-software environment with physical-world costs.
  • High ownership and low ego regarding scope, willing to handle both detailed and high-leverage work.

  • Deep expertise in realtime sensor acquisition and synchronization.

  • Experience using lab instrumentation including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, RF tools, and protocol analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Own Ramp end-to-end, including card issuance, spend policy, approval workflows, expense review, and bill pay.
  • Partner with outside accountants on bookkeeping, while serving as the internal owner of financial accuracy, including reconciliations, close support, and system data integrity.
  • Own cap table management using Pulley, ensuring accurate and prompt reflection of all option grants, exercises, terminations, and financing events. Respond to board and investor requests for cap table data.
  • Own the monthly forecast and finance plan, conduct variance analysis against actuals, and establish department-level budgets and reporting to track spend.
  • Own vendor contract review and negotiation, acting as the primary contact for outside counsel on commercial/contract matters.
  • Own the broker relationship and renewal cycle for insurance policies (D&O, EPLI, general liability, etc.), escalating items requiring board approval.
  • Own the underlying financial model and numbers for board decks and be prepared to answer financial questions during board meetings.
  • Serve as the quantitative backbone for strategic and cross-functional projects, including modeling staffing plans, evaluating new functions, and conducting diligence on vendors or initiatives.
