About The Position

Student Health and Wellness at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Finance and Compliance Manager to join their team. This healthcare position will be classified as a Manager Budget and Finance and will serve as the fiscal officer and Business Unit Manager for Thielen Student Health Center, Student Counseling Services, and Student Wellness. The role involves managing budgets, financial reporting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning, monitoring revenues and expenses, analyzing variances, and recommending corrective actions. It also includes overseeing billing, insurance reimbursement, and revenue cycle operations, as well as developing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. The position supervises billing, records, and credentialing staff, supports hiring, onboarding, credentialing, and workforce compliance requirements, and ensures compliance with healthcare, financial, privacy, and accreditation regulations. The role leads audit preparation, monitors adherence to university, state, and federal requirements, and oversees medical records, billing operations, vendor relationships, and process improvements. Additionally, it involves analyzing operational and financial data to improve efficiency and revenue performance, collaborating with leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational initiatives, and preparing reports, analyses, and recommendations for leadership and stakeholders. The Finance and Compliance Manager will also provide training and guidance on financial systems, policies, and compliance practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Health Information Management, Healthcare Compliance, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • Leadership experience in healthcare finance with responsibility for developing and managing organizational budgets.
  • Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including billing, reimbursement, coding, and financial operations.
  • Experience overseeing medical records, regulatory compliance, and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations in an outpatient or student health setting.
  • Professional certification in coding, billing, healthcare finance, compliance, or health information management (e.g., CPC, CCS, CHC, CRCR, HFMA) preferred.
