As primary investment area within Goldman Sachs, we provide investment and advisory services for pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, financial advisors, and individuals. Within AWM, the Finance group supports each asset management business through a variety of functions, including managing the valuation process for each AMW Private business (e.g., recommending appropriate quarter-end equity and debt valuations) and analyzing, budgeting and projecting the performance of each business. This position will be within the AWM Finance group assisting in both the monthly / quarterly valuation process and the budgeting process.   Innovator from Goldman Sachs Asset Management is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Analyst to join our growing finance team. This role will serve as a key contributor to the accounting function. The candidate will play a critical role in financial reporting, process improvement, and oversight of core accounting activities, while also mentoring junior staff and helping drive operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) and accounting systems
  • Experience with month-end close ownership and financial statement preparation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or active progress toward CPA strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and own key components of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and analyze financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and actionable insights
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring proper controls and accuracy
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Review and approve employee expense reports for compliance and accuracy
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and detailed variance analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Partner with the VP of Finance on strategic initiatives, reporting enhancements, and process improvements
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff 
  • Assist with audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support business decisions
