About The Position

Plans and directs general accounting functions within the finance department, either personally or through subordinate supervision. Supervises and coordinates activities of accounting staff to ensure appropriate controls and reliability/accuracy of information reported. Provides primary accounting support for various cross-functional matters impacting financial reporting and controls, including manufacturing, inventory, purchasing, customer service, and payroll. Responsibilities include the preparation of financial statements, maintaining the accounting general ledger system, assisting with interim and/or year-end financial audits, and supporting business planning as needed. The role involves achieving operational, functional, and/or business targets within the team with a direct impact on departmental or job family results, delivering operational results that impact immediate or short-term results (less than 1 year). It also includes planning and establishing goals and objectives for a team typically comprising intermediate-level and entry-level professionals. The manager will communicate with parties within and occasionally outside of their department, influencing others on policies, practices, and procedures. They are responsible for making moderate improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance, solving difficult and moderately complex problems that impact multiple departments. The position requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics within one job area, with advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
  • 5-10 years related experience
  • 3-5 years in a supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (USGAAP and/or IFRS)
  • Experience with integrated ERPs
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact accounting initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management and staff
  • Language – English required

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Oversee the preparation of various operational and management reports as required
  • Direct the maintenance of the general and subsidiary ledgers, fixed assets, and depreciation systems.
  • Oversee the AP team to ensure accurate and timely dealing with any issues outside of normal invoice matching process – e.g. PPV, IPV tracking, manual approvals etc..
  • Assist Controller with continued improvement to internal control structure
  • Assist Controller in the preparation of internal/external audit matters
  • Direct and assist accounting staff personnel as necessary to achieve department goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
