About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Final Packaging Manager to oversee the packaging operations in our facility. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products are packaged accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company quality standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with packaging machinery and equipment.
  • Familiar with baggers, case packers, gluers, tapers, and code daters.
  • Familiar with metal detectors, Xrays, quality checks, and packaging checks.
  • Familiar with stretch wrappers and label printers.
  • Familiar with inventory systems for finished goods.
  • Familiar with various pieces of palletizing equipment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing packaging environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to operate a forklift a plus.
  • associate’s or bachelor’s degree in operations management, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the final packaging department, ensuring timely completion of production schedules.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of packaging operators to achieve performance goals.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and safety practices.
  • Ensure all packaged products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Monitor the packaging process to identify and address any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Optimize packaging workflows to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, waste, and efficiency.
  • Enforce company policies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, GMP).
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Train employees on safe and effective packaging practices.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of packaging materials to support production schedules.
  • Minimize waste and track material usage to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to prevent material shortages or overstocking.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the packaging process and implement solutions.
  • Lead or participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvement projects.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, equipment innovations, and best practices.
