About The Position

As a Final Mile Driver, you will be responsible for picking up, transporting, and delivering local freight, excluding hazardous materials, using a non CDL-A vehicle. This role emphasizes the safe and timely transportation of goods from origin to destination, involving loading and unloading shipments, with or without mechanical assistance, and frequent physical tasks like lifting, pulling, and carrying freight. You will also be required to inspect your vehicle for safe operating condition before, during, and after trips, submitting a written Vehicle Condition Report. Additionally, you must verify shipping papers to ensure no hazardous materials are present and manage all necessary shipping documentation. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test
  • Have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Have at least 6 months of driving experience, to include a personal motor vehicle
  • Be willing to enter Southeastern’s Driver Trainee Program after successfully completing one year in the Final Mile Driver role

Responsibilities

  • Pick up, transport, and deliver freight locally, not to include hazardous materials, in a non CDL-A vehicle
  • Ensure the safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination
  • Load and unload shipments, either individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling and carrying of freight
  • Inspect vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips
  • Submit a written Vehicle Condition Report on the condition of the vehicle at the end of each trip
  • Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load to ensure hazardous materials are not present
  • Ensure all shipping documentation (e.g. manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, etc.) required to move with shipments is available for inspection
  • Ensure appropriate paperwork accompany shipment when delivered
  • Properly handle and complete all necessary paperwork related to vehicle operations and freight movements
