About The Position

This role will be cross-trained in both functions of lean, including milling and final assembly. The position involves assembling, testing, and calibrating fabricated parts to meet tolerances and product specifications. The employee will use hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications and work instructions, identify units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repair as necessary, complete final inspection of parts for quality, and set up and operate a manual mill to perform milling operations such as milled slots and holes.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures while actively participating to create a Zero Harm culture at work and at home

  • Maintain working knowledge of product conformance and assembly procedures of numerous products
  • Prioritize daily work to ensure customer delivery is met
  • Complete ERP transactions, print labels, and engraves product using a computer
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and perform quality checks using measuring equipment such as Calipers, Micrometers, and CMM and to determine milled features, machine setup, and tool selection.
  • Verify measuring equipment calibration daily
  • Visual quality check to verify all features are complete and meet visual requirements such as surface finish and free from blemishes
  • Verify the bill of materials and select correct material for assembly
  • Assembly of standardized product designs
  • Install components and assemble product using various hand tools and power tools according to specification
  • Operates an arbor press to perform component assembly
  • Engrave, package, and label product according to customer requirements
  • Communicate with other departments to correct defects discovered during assembly operation
  • Load material securely in flat chuck to perform milling operations
  • Perform calculations to ensure milled features meet specifications
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications, including speeds & feeds, machine axis, and centering chuck
  • Perform milling operations on various materials including bronze, stainless steel, aluminum, and various plastics
  • Verify product specification using measuring equipment such as Calipers and Micrometers
  • Verify measuring equipment calibration daily
  • Verify and troubleshoot machine operation including speeds & feeds, tool wear, and surface finish
  • Visual quality check to verify all features are complete and meet visual requirements such as surface finish and free from blemishes
  • Wash and deburr finished product
  • Properly complete required paperwork
  • Participate in daily preventative maintenance and cleaning schedule
  • Other duties as assigned
