About The Position

MilliporeSigma in Burlington, MA is seeking a Validation Specialist. In this role as a Filter Validation Specialist performing Bacterial Retention Testing, you will perform microbial filter validation tests, including preliminary studies and standard bacterial retention tests, in line with approved protocols and SOPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology or other Life Science field
• 1+ years of experience with aseptic laboratory techniques and working in sterile environments

Nice To Haves

• Experience performing microbial filter validation and bacterial retention testing in accordance with approved SOPs and protocols
• Understanding of GLP/GMP practices, data integrity, Good Documentation Practices, and ALCOA+ principles
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and Technical Report No. 26 (Revised 2025): Sterilizing Filtration of Liquids
• Ability to record, review, and communicate accurate laboratory data; experience with Excel, Word, LabVantage, or Smartsheet
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills, with a focus on right-first-time execution
• Ability to communicate clearly with laboratory, project, and cross-functional teams and know when to seek clarification
• Ability to adapt positively to changes in processes, tools, or organization and willingness to support scheduled monitoring, culture preparation, and occasional weekend activities

Responsibilities

• Plan testing activities, prepare equipment and materials, and use laboratory and data-management tools to deliver accurate, complete results on schedule
• Document work according to Good Documentation Practices and ALCOA+ principles, support technical reviews, and promptly report deviations or unexpected results
• Maintain equipment and workspaces, perform water and environmental monitoring, prepare B. diminuta cultures, and train colleagues as required
• Handle samples and solvents safely and support occasional weekend activities when needed
