This position is responsible for operating yeast filter press, belt conveyor, mixer-extruder, and all associated equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training. The role ensures the effective functioning of this equipment, monitors filter cake discharging, takes product and in-process samples, and performs basic laboratory analysis. The operator follows proper procedures in filter press and packaging processes, makes adjustments to equipment as needed, and notifies the Superintendent of any equipment failures, process variations, or production schedule drifts. Responsibilities also include participating in equipment cleaning operations, monitoring critical control points, following cleaning procedures (CIP, COP, and open plant cleaning), and adhering to plant maintenance procedures. The role requires learning and complying with all safety and food safety rules, understanding material safety data for chemicals, and maintaining control sheets for processing parameters and equipment. The operator will monitor and control yeast cake storage, keep process areas and the control room clean, verify information accuracy, and communicate effectively with the Superintendent, Dry Yeast Department Manager, and other department employees. They will also submit written work order requests for maintenance issues, coordinate with the maintenance department for PMs and repairs, and coordinate with the laboratory for testing. Computer use for email, Excel, and procedures is required, along with inputting Oracle information and maintaining daily inventory. Participation in the Dry Yeast Department continuous improvement team and special projects as assigned are also part of the role. Additionally, the operator may operate packaging equipment as needed.
