Filling Technician I
About The Position
This role involves operating semi-automated and manual filling equipment, as well as various industrial equipment like fork trucks and pallet jacks. The position requires meticulous completion of manufacturing documentation in accordance with ISO9001 guidelines. Responsibilities also include staging raw materials, cleaning laboratory hardware, off-loading automated filling lines, and providing general support to the department as needed. Associates in this position may generate or manage hazardous waste and are required to complete initial and annual refresher training on hazardous waste management, emergency preparedness, and pollution prevention. The role involves frequent work with organics, including flammable solvents, strong acids/bases, potential biohazards, large-scale bacterial cultures, and hazardous chemicals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to handle working in an extremely fast-paced environment while processing multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of the metric system
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment when required (may include using a full-face respirator)
- A minimum of 6 months experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Constantly required to stand/walk
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working frequently with organics, including flammable solvents, strong acids / bases, potential biohazards (including raw animal serums), large scale bacterial cultures, and hazardous chemicals
Responsibilities
- Operate an assortment of semi-automated and manual filling equipment
- Operate a variety of industrial equipment including fork trucks, pallet jacks, and similar equipment
- Proper completion of required manufacturing documentation under ISO9001 guidelines
- Assist department by staging raw materials
- Assist department by cleaning laboratory hardware
- Assist department by off-loading automated filling lines
- Support the department when needed
- Generate or manage hazardous waste as defined by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency
- Receive initial hazardous waste training within the first 30 working days of assignment
- Receive annual refresher training in hazardous waste management topics
