About The Position

The Filler Seamer operates and maintains machinery, ensuring efficient production of packaged goods. This role involves monitoring machine performance, verifying product quality, and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within a manufacturing environment. The position requires active participation in team initiatives, continuous improvement, and adherence to company operating systems.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net required for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Some college and/or Tech School education.
  • Enjoys working with others and sees that teamwork produces a more productive environment.
  • Highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.
  • Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Runs machine and makes changeovers per scheduling.
  • Verifies that pouches or lids staged conform to the batch sheet and feeds lids or pouches to the seamer.
  • Monitors and records pouch or can information.
  • Runs QC inspector samples for seam tear down and monitors and records results.
  • Verifies proper product amounts.
  • Makes adjustments to can or pouch weights per quality control instruction.
  • Keeps the area clean during downtime and changeover events.
  • Performs weekly sanitation.
  • Participates as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team initiatives.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness and works with the team to resolve issues.
  • Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the role in supporting these systems.
  • Communicates concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
