About The Position

Fills and seals cans or pouches to meet product specifications. This role involves running and making machine changeovers according to schedules, verifying that pouches or lids meet batch sheet requirements, and feeding them to the seamer. The operator will monitor and record pouch or can information, run QC inspector samples for seam tear-down monitoring, and verify proper product amounts, making adjustments as needed per quality control instructions. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean work area during downtime and changeovers, performing weekly sanitation, and participating as a team member in ongoing development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The role requires coordination with team members to ensure best practices, attendance at team meetings, and fostering strong cohesiveness within the team. The employee must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand their responsibility to maintain this familiarity and their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas. Requirements

  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Runs machine and makes changeovers per scheduling
  • Verify the pouches or lids staged conform to the batch sheet and feed lids or pouches to the seamer.
  • Monitor and record pouch or can information.
  • Run QC inspector samples for seam tear down monitor and record.
  • Verify proper product amounts. Makes adjustments to can or pouch weights per quality control instruction.
  • Keep the area clean in down time and changeover events.
  • Perform weekly sanitation.
  • Participates as a member of the team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Simmons operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
