About The Position

The File Maintenance Clerk's purpose is to maximize profit by performing all duties necessary to ensure that the front-end system price file is current, and tags and signage are current. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate pricing and product information within the store's systems.

Requirements

  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Able to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from supervisors/co-workers concerning store policy/procedures and use of equipment.
  • The ability to read and write English: able to read instructions, labels, numbers, price sheets, printed paper and forms.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Work and educational history demonstrating stability.
  • Works well independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Accurate with numbers.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a related type of job.
  • Prior experience operating scanning equipment, bar-code printer, computer, price-verification equipment, and intercom.

Responsibilities

  • Activate regular price changes on the list or change form, including those from weekly ads, deals, and price reductions.
  • Ensure every item on the case/shelf/display has a correct price tag/sign, ordering or making tags and signs as necessary.
  • Perform all department manual price changes on the POS system.
  • Ensure all direct store-delivered items are in the item/price file.
  • Monitor item file for correct multiple prices, cents-off label, mix-match, pre-priced and bonus-priced items.
  • Verify accuracy of item/price file against shelf-tag prices and the store price book on all DSD, warehouse delivered, ad, "Special Buy", deal, new item, direct ship, and PLU items.
  • Determine if items are set up correctly/incorrectly, not set up, or have incorrect retail prices in the system.
  • Understand the operation, safety requirements, and restraints of scanning equipment, computer, price-verification equipment, and intercom system.
  • Communicate with the store/department manager on problems, recommendations for change, and pricing/signage decisions.
  • Print and verify with the produce department a list of all department PLU files each week.
  • Make two copies of the back-up tape (one for the manager, one for the safe).
  • Make a list of "bad" UPC code information at all registers and report "bad" UPC codes to the Corporate Office.
  • Secure the POS system to prevent unauthorized personnel from making changes.
  • Review price changes and new shelf tags from the Corporate Office.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the store manager, substitute for absent workers, and perform any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers.
