About The Position

Sierra Vista Unified School District is seeking passionate, dedicated educators to join our PreK-12 team. This position is for a Fifth Grade Teacher, with two openings available. The role involves assisting students in their intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth, implementing the district's educational philosophy, and guiding the learning process to achieve curriculum goals. The teacher will be responsible for setting performance objectives, assessing student progress, diagnosing learning disabilities, and providing a positive learning environment. This role requires maintaining accurate records, counseling with students and parents, and cooperating with colleagues. The teacher will also assist in upholding school rules and policies, attending faculty meetings, and selecting instructional materials. The position is located at Town & Country K-8 School and is available starting July 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Appropriate teaching certificate as issued by the State of Arizona to include appropriate vocational certification and endorsements.
  • Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
  • Implement by instruction and action the District philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; in harmony with the goals, establishes desired student performance objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; communicates these objectives to students.
  • Assess students to determine whether desired student performance objectives are being achieved.
  • Plan, after identifying student needs, a program of study.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and refers to appropriate specialist where need exists.
  • Evaluate, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Provide an atmosphere, physical and psychological, conducive to learning.
  • Maintain accurate permanent academic and attendance records for students.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
  • Attend and participates in general faculty and department meetings.
  • Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Maintain active and harmonious involvement in community affairs.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as may be directed by the Principal.
  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.
