About The Position

Holt CAT in Georgetown, Texas is looking for a experienced Field Welder Technician 3 (Line bore) that can work independently to perform all aspects of welding repairs, fabrication, torch work, and line boring on heavy construction equipment and related components utilizing HOLT CAT, Caterpillar and AWS Welding Procedures, Standards and Codes in both a shop and field environment. This position will quote jobs, break down prints and procedures to build a material list, order material and provide training to other team members. In addition to removal, installation, and the repair of heavy equipment components, including undercarriage. Must have a safe driving record. Must be able to obtain a CDL, CDL Class B preferred! Line boring machine experience is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; with additional specialized/technical training or some college courses (Welding Technology) preferred.
  • Eight or more years required.
  • One year supervisory/lead experience required, three or more years preferred
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) 1” 3G and 4G on both A36 and T1
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) 1” 3G and 4G on both A36 and T1
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) 3/8” 3G and 4G
  • Link belt Crane – Welding Qualification
  • First Aid/CPR; Confined Space Entry; Methane/O2 Deficiency
  • MSHA
  • Valid Driver’s license required and a SAFE driving record, must pass DOT physical
  • Maintain a DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B or above) within 90 days of start of the position and must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Advanced Blueprint reading
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • ASNT VT, PT, MT Certifications
  • Ongoing Safety training
  • Leadership training

Nice To Haves

  • Line boring machine experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of welding (FCAW, SMAW and GTAW, fabricating, cutting, line boring and is very mechanically inclined and can remove, repair, and install all components associated with the repairs in a field or shop environment with no direct supervision.
  • Assists leadership with the evaluation and quoting of projects, in the shop and field environment.
  • Acts on behalf of leadership in their absence, leading others in the accomplishment of tasks by directing and managing on site resources.
  • Performs work order maintenance regularly in conjunction with the supervisor or lead.
  • Leads projects in the development, implementation, and execution of new business opportunities.
  • Obtains additional welder qualifications as required or requested by the customer or project requirements.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and willingness to work in any department that needs assistance.
  • Pursues on-going self-development, classroom training and on-the-job training.
  • Makes decisions, recommendations, commitments and implements new ways of approaching projects.
  • Develops procedures and techniques for performing complex fabrications or repairs.
  • Provides recommendations for equipment needed to perform tasks.
  • Collaborates with leadership on large purchases.
  • Works safely at all times while consistently adhering to company policies, procedures and standards internally as well as externally when representing our organization.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
