About The Position

Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (“MES”) is looking for a Field Utility Specialist to join our team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The Field Utility Specialist is responsible for conferring with office staff (utility planners, consultants and/or engineers to understand the scope and requirements for a project while physically inspecting gas, electric, and other data utility systems and associated materials and components.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and/or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years applicable experience working with construction, engineering, or facilities maintenance.
  • Required to have satisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to understand basic principles of public and private utilities.
  • Ability to learn and understand civil, structural, electrical, and communication systems and structures.
  • Compliance and knowledge of OSHA and site safety rules.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA confined space training certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Physical inspection of existing poles, lines, and right of ways to assess readiness for new attachments.
  • Locate and document required information through IKE and Katapult fielding software.
  • Application and analysis of standards and authorities, plans and specifications provided by designers and engineers.
  • Responsible for knowing and complying with owner, MES, and MIOSHA site safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Conferring with utility planners, consultants and/or engineers, to gain an understanding of the scope and requirements of a project.
  • Accurately measuring, documenting, recording, evaluating, and assessing existing utility structures.
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
