About The Position

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Field Upgrade Specialist to join their customer upgrade team. This role is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of assigned upgrade projects until completion. The team works in a high-performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations, as they implement mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers. Many systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, and some networks are being enhanced with LTE infrastructure for data services like live mobile video transmission.

Requirements

Must live in the Greater Orlando Florida area.
3+ years of experience in the technical or engineering field.
Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems.
Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge in IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS).
Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences.
Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment.
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience directly working with end-user customers is desirable.
Previous knowledge and experience working with Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon.
Experience with switching and routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, iBGP, eBGP, M-BGP, MPLS RSVP-TE, and LDP).

Responsibilities

Oversee and take responsibility for all technical aspects of assigned upgrade projects until upgrade completion.
Conduct customer presentations.
Perform upgrade equipment staging.
Update system documentation.
Execute live system upgrades.
