Under the direction and training of management, this position will increase underwriting proficiency and performance of underwriting functions. The incumbent will participate in on-the-job training to achieve necessary development and ability to assume additional duties and responsibilities. Requirements

• Increase underwriting proficiency and performance of underwriting functions.
• Participate in on-the-job training to achieve necessary development and ability to assume additional duties and responsibilities.
• Inspect personal and commercial risks for hazards and determine acceptability.
• Physically inspect, analyze and evaluate property for value, condition and exposure purposes.
• Participate in various daily inspections, roof inspections, special projects inspection programs.
• Accompany Agents on insured appointments to assist in evaluating and identifying exposures.
• Depict findings in photography and complete reports of discovery from inspections.
• Become well acquainted with underwriting manual.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly underwrite commercial and personal lines of business
• Inspect personal and commercial risks for hazards and determine acceptability
• Assist the independent Contractor Agents on risks that are outside of their binding authority.
• Physically inspect, analyze and evaluate property for value, condition and exposure purposes.
• Underwrite, renew, rate various lines of business.
• Participate in various daily inspections, roof inspections, special projects inspection programs.
• Frequently accompany Agents on insured appointments to assist in evaluating and identifying exposures.
• Assume duties as Roving Field Underwriter to assist with daily and overflow inspection workload.
• Learn duties and responsibilities of Field Underwriter through on-the-job training in office and in the field.
• Depict findings in photography and complete reports of discovery from inspections.
• Become well acquainted with underwriting manual.
