About The Position

Girl Scouts of Central Indiana embraces an inclusive culture and values diversity, equity, and inclusion. The organization facilitates Girl Scout camp at five Indiana locations, convenes thousands of Girl Scout programs with nearly 600 community partners, and serves thousands more community members annually at their STEM Center of Excellence and Founders Lodge Event and Conference Center. The Field Trip Coordinator is a dynamic thinker passionate about teaching. This role is responsible for assisting in the creation of field trip curriculum and evaluating program success. The coordinator will serve as the primary contact for scheduling daily field trip programming, communicating schedules to educators, maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and teaching field trip groups throughout the year, including providing summer programming for campers. The position is based at the Exploration Lab in Camp Dellwood, with potential travel to serving communities for Reverse Field Trips. Field trips can occur during morning or afternoon hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; some college or a college degree preferred.
  • Organized and self-starting; ability to work independently or in teams.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Basic knowledge of Girl Scout program preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Must hold membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Responsibilities

  • Help create field trip curriculum and evaluate program success.
  • Serve as the point person for scheduling daily programming for field trips.
  • Share schedules with educators.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies.
  • Teach field trip groups throughout the year, including providing summer programming for campers.
  • Work under the direction of the Director of Stem Experience to produce high-quality field trip opportunities.
  • Interact with teachers, chaperones, and students during field trips.
  • Independently command the attention of Pre-K through 12th grade students for approximately one hour to lead STEM and environmental-based programs.
  • Inspire curiosity and creativity in youth.
  • Prepare materials for activities, programs, and events based on current curriculum.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with community partners (e.g., school groups, youth groups, non-profit organizations).
  • Work closely with the program manager to research and develop new lesson plans.
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies in advance as needed.
  • Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and articulate its virtues to stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and objectives of GSCI.
  • Fulfill duties and responsibilities shared by all employees.
