About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Field Testing Technician to join their Building Enclosure Testing team in York, Pennsylvania. This role offers a great opportunity for career growth in the building enclosure testing industry. The Building and Construction division of Intertek is a leader in various architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines, focusing on innovative product and project solutions. Their services include assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of developments, assets, and facilities. The Field Testing group specifically concentrates on building enclosure field testing for new construction and retrofit projects. As a Field Testing Technician, you will assist with field testing and building inspections, with on-the-job training provided. This position requires travel most weeks, Monday through Friday, and a company vehicle is provided for work-related travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 6+ months experience using hand and power tools (drills, saws, tape measures, light carpentry, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with elevated platforms
  • Ability to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methods
  • Ability to learn and comprehend testing standards
  • Aptitude for working independently on assigned projects
  • Technical competency and ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers, both in writing and orally
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Good computer skills – Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull as needed
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Field testing projects and building envelope testing as assigned
  • Forensic investigations of building envelope failures
  • Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters
  • Prepare and submit accurate and concise reports on all projects assigned
  • Provide project coordination including planning, scheduling, execution and reporting
  • Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team
