About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Field Testing Technician to join their Building Science Solutions team in St. Louis, Missouri. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to build a career in the building enclosure testing industry. Intertek's Building and Construction division provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services for new developments, existing assets, and facilities. The Building Science Solutions (BSS) group focuses on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for both new construction and retrofit projects. The role involves travel up to 25% for overnight/out-of-town trips as business needs dictate. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday during core business hours, though this may vary slightly.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
General construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power tools
Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results and possess a mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with Quality Assurance policies and procedures which relate to the control, storage, and disposition of test specimens
Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more, sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties
Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
Ability to travel as business needs indicate - Up to 25% overnight/out of town
Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required

Nice To Haves

Degree in a technical field desired, or equivalent related experience
Construction, glazing, roofing or similar general construction background

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures
Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (i.e., air and water infiltration)
Provide assessment of data through reporting
Prepare professionally written field reports
Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams
Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks
Make detailed observations and provide recommendations for improvements
Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
Communicate effectively with client and project teams
