About The Position

Installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs various computer, network, and electronic physical security systems, low voltage systems, cabling, and associated equipment for optimum performance. This role involves installing, setting up, and troubleshooting low voltage infrastructure for network, physical security systems, and low voltage electronics systems. The specialist will apply working knowledge of physical security system devices and their major components, evaluate the performance of installed equipment, and provide ongoing QA/QC feedback. Additionally, the role requires installing, setting up, and troubleshooting all information technology systems, including Windows Operating System Configurations, and demonstrating knowledge of design techniques for technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. The specialist will assemble, disassemble, and install video and data communication lines and hardware, computer systems, and security and surveillance systems using hand and power tools. Configuring, installing, and repairing computers for hardware, network settings, system hardening, and additional software is also a key responsibility. The role involves arranging and coordinating local procurement of materials and equipment, as well as arranging and coordinating the receipt, installation, and tracking of purchased materials, and providing project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Associates degree (AAS preferred) from an accredited institution that requires 2 years' experience may be substituted for the degree, or certification and experience.
  • 3 Years' relevant computer or installation experience.
  • Read and understand work orders, instructions, schedules, schematics, specifications, manuals, wire diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Draft reports and business correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers and customers.
  • Calculate amounts related to performance of the position such as discounts, proportions, percentages, distances, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Apply concepts of basic geometry.
  • Apply low voltage and basic electric theory (voltage, amperes, and ohms) and associated test equipment to install, test, troubleshoot, or replace electronic power, communication, and control systems.
  • Capability to interpret and edit technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models; familiar with interpretation and use of computer-aided design (CAD) drawings.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 11.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Information Technology, computer concepts, applications, and configuration; electronic and computer equipment hardware and software.
  • Demonstrate understanding of layer 1 and layer 2 of the Open Systems Interconnection model (OSI).
  • Have a basic understanding of networking, the use of applications controlling configurations and operations of low voltage physical security and video management systems and their related hardware.
  • Ability to install Win11 OS images, update drivers, and make configuration changes following written instructions and experience.
  • Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IP camera installation and maintenance preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining low voltage physical security and VMS is a plus.
  • Technology Systems/Components Certifications desired. (A+, Network+, Security+, PSP, BICSI or other structured cable training / certification)

Responsibilities

  • Install, set up and troubleshoot low voltage infrastructure for network, physical security systems, and low voltage electronics systems.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and install video and data communication lines and hardware, computer systems, security and surveillance systems using hand and power tools.
  • Configure, install, and repair computers for hardware, network settings, system hardening, and additional software as required.
  • Arrange and coordinate local procurement of material and equipment required for project completion of assigned tasks.
  • Arrange and coordinate receipt, installation, and tracking of purchased materials.
  • Provide project deliverables.
