About The Position

Pinchin is offering a 6-month opportunity with the possibility of a contract extension or full-time position based on performance and business needs within our Hazardous Materials (HAZ) and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) team. You will support effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections, and audits, and tackle challenges like indoor air quality, Legionella, microbial contamination and infection control. You will assist in developing hygiene, health, and safety documentation, prepare technical reports, and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met, while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a professional consulting environment. Pinchin’s Hazardous Materials (HAZ) and Indoor Environmental (IEQ) team helps clients identify, assess, and manage risks related to hazardous building materials and indoor air quality (IAQ). The team conducts field investigations, air and material sampling, inspections, and oversight of abatement activities to support regulatory compliance, occupant safety, and building performance. Working closely with clients, contractors, and regulators, the HAZ/IEQ team delivers practical, science‑based solutions that protect people, buildings, and communities.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in construction, architectural technology, engineering, or related field (or work experience equivalent)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle
  • Willingness to travel within Northeastern Ontario Area
  • Flexible to work occasional evenings/weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Entry‑level to two years of HAZ/IEQ relevant experience considered an asset
  • Consulting or building construction/maintenance experience (asset)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mould, IAQ, industrial hygiene, and hazardous materials assessments
  • Perform site reviews and evaluate building systems and conditions
  • Interview clients regarding building history and site concerns
  • Assess damage from floods, water losses, smoke, and fire
  • Collect mould, bacteria, asbestos, lead, and PCB samples, including air monitoring
  • Assist in hazardous materials abatement and restoration work oversight
  • Assist in preparing clear technical reports, drawings, and recommendations
  • Support quality control initiatives and client relationship development
