About The Position

Audubon is seeking a Field Technician to perform inspection and remediation activities on exposed natural gas pipelines at assigned locations. The technician assesses pipeline conditions, electronically documents findings, and completes remediation in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. The role includes inspecting exposed gas mains for coating and visible pipe condition, supports, isolation, and labeling. Inspections may take place on bridges, in confined spaces, and on elevated structures. Remediation work may include cleaning and re-wrapping pipeline coatings, cleaning and painting vertical risers, installing or replacing FRP shields, sealing bridge end walls, wrapping soil-to-air interfaces, installing supports and hangers or cathodic protection test stations, clearing debris, and performing minor excavation. The technician also conducts leak surveys using combustible gas indicators and follows emergency protocols for detected leaks. The Field Technician follows the Company Operating Procedure Manual, applicable regulations such as 49 CFR Part 192, project work orders, traffic control plans, roadway safety requirements, and confined-space entry procedures where applicable. The role requires maintaining electronic records, photos, and GPS data; coordinating daily work with project managers and field leadership; communicating with company representatives before and after site work; and supporting quality inspections and approvals before demobilization. This is a field-based position involving travel across project locations and work in varying environments. Hours may be flexible based on permits and project needs.

Requirements

Active AMPP CIP Level 1 certification.
Experience in pipeline maintenance, utility construction, or similar field work.
Ability to perform both inspection and hands-on remediation tasks.
Ability to use mobile devices for data entry and reporting.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift, carry, and handle tools and materials.
Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
Ability to perform manual labor, including excavation and coating application.

Nice To Haves

Active AMPP CIP Level 2 certification.
Operator Qualification (OQ) certification or ability to obtain it.
Experience with pipeline coating systems, such as wax tape and epoxy coatings.
Knowledge of cathodic protection systems and installation.
Familiarity with leak survey equipment (CGI).
Knowledge of State DOT traffic control plans and work in roadway environments.
Experience working in confined spaces and elevated structures.

Responsibilities

Inspect exposed gas mains for coating condition, visible pipe condition, supports, isolation, and labeling.
Conduct inspections in environments including bridges, confined spaces, and elevated structures.
Record inspection results using company-approved mobile devices and software.
Identify and document deficiencies requiring remediation.
Perform assigned pipeline remediation, including coating cleaning and re-wrapping, painting risers, installing or replacing FRP shields, sealing bridge end walls, and wrapping soil-to-air interfaces.
Install supports, hangers, and cathodic protection test stations; clear debris and perform minor excavation as required.
Apply coatings and materials to manufacturer and company specifications, ensuring installations meet quality and safety standards.
Conduct leak surveys using combustible gas indicators and promptly report and appropriately respond to detected leaks in accordance with emergency protocols.
Follow the Company Operating Procedure Manual, regulatory requirements, project work orders, traffic control plans, roadway safety requirements, and confined-space procedures where applicable.
Maintain documentation, including photos, GPS data, and electronic records.
Coordinate daily activities with the Project Manager and field leadership.
Communicate with company representatives, including Corrosion Technicians, before and after work at each site.
Support quality inspections and obtain required approvals before demobilization.
