CobbFendley is seeking a Field Technician to join our Fort Worth Office. Requirements

Basic understanding and minimal practical experience; requires guidance and supervision. No experience is required.
Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings.
Skills include use of industry-standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively.
Ability to safely operate required equipment, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and perform work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned tasks with supervision and follow established procedures.
Develop foundational technical and field skills.
Responsible for safely operating equipment.
Travel locally and out of state, including overnights.
May operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, as needed to support specific operational tasks, and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use.
May cross train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE).
Learn and comply with all basic safety procedures: Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and Project Safety Plans (PSP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures.
Observe and follow QA/QC processes under supervision.
Identifying and evaluating potential hazards in the work environment.
Properly selecting and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Develop general understanding of Traffic Control Plans (TCP).
Begin familiarization with Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards governing projects in their respective field.
Perform entry-level tasks in Air and Hydro Vacuum Excavation (SUE Locating), assisting with safe and efficient exposure of underground utilities.
Apply basic utility locating methods to identify buried infrastructure such as telephone lines, fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, electric power, gas, water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
Read and interpret DOT, municipal, and other technical plans/prints to determine the type and size of underground utilities.
Operate or assist with vacuum truck equipment during excavation and utility locating activities.
Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities via all quality levels within prescribed quality/accuracy limits.
Perform Level A (QL-A) SUE locating via nondestructive techniques (i.e., digging potholes and soil excavation, etc.) with a high-pressure air/hydro wand, concrete saws, core drills, and vacuum hose systems to determine precise horizontal, vertical position, size, and type of underground utilities.
Assist in performing Level B (QL-B) SUE designating via electromagnetic equipment (pipe/cable locators) to determine existence and horizontal position of underground utilities. Perform Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning when included as part of the scope. Document estimated electronic depth (ED) readings.
Document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and/or video. Perform video inspections of sewers when necessary.
Assist in performing Level C (QL-C) SUE, including documenting existing visible utility features such as manholes, valve boxes, hydrants, meters, pedestals, handholes, and related utility appurtenances.
Assist in performing Level D (QL-D) SUE, including reviewing available utility records and coordinating with utility representatives to obtain existing utility information.
Record accurate documentation/sketches of underground utility field data using CobbFendley’s ArcGIS Online SUE Collector/GIS mapping software.
Assist with documenting utility markings, field sketches, site conditions, utility features, and project limits in accordance with company SUE procedures.
Assist with collection of utility attribute information including owner, material type, size, depth, utility direction, and associated field notes.
Support utility designation and utility investigation activities utilizing electromagnetic locating equipment, passive searches, and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technologies when required.
