About The Position

The Field Technician measures, installs, tests, repairs, and maintains windows and doors at customers’ homes or businesses. The technician provides customers with instructions on proper product use, performs inspections and service work, coordinates return visits, and promotes company services. The role requires technical and mechanical skills, familiarity with industry tools, physical fitness, and travel within the radius of UWD locations.

Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification in the industry.
• Previous experience servicing windows and doors.
• Previous experience with exterior replacement products.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the insurance company.
• At least 1 year of window or door installation or repair experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage overtime on service calls patiently without rushing the job.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and solve problems based on customers’ non-technical descriptions.
• Strong working knowledge of equipment and tools used in the industry.
• Physical fitness to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and bend frequently.
• Ability to travel within the radius of UWD locations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and take accurate measurements of doors and windows.
• Repair customers’ products, including installing screens, replacing sashes, glass, and hardware, and repairing seals.
• Coordinate required return visits and communicate needed services, materials, and labor.
• Perform post-installation inspections.
• Anticipate obstacles that could affect customer expectations, job costs, or code performance, and recommend solutions.
• Promote the company’s services.
• Maintain technical and mechanical skills.
• Travel to customer homes or businesses to perform repairs and routine maintenance.
• Provide customers with instructions on proper product usage.
