About The Position

IMEG, a large design consulting firm, is seeking a Field Technician for its Peoria, IL office. This role is designed for a first-level trainee who will perform routine tasks under the direction of a Construction Manager. Responsibilities include field measurements, documentation, reading and interpreting plans, and potentially observing construction projects. Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal.
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both fractions and tenth.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must always maintain professional conduct.
  • Valid driver’s license required with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier.
  • Advanced/Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic field inspection, testing, and documentation.
  • Conduct on-site or laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and hot mix asphalt.
  • Attend training to achieve various certifications.
  • Operate company vehicles.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles.
  • Observe safety and security procedures.
  • Make field measurements, documentation entries, and read & interpret plans as assigned by the Construction Project Manager.
