About The Position

This position requires the incumbent to work as part of a small team environment, helping and training others to construct and maintain fiber routes. The role involves performing essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for individuals with disabilities. The job requires a willingness to learn and perform fieldwork, including digging holes, working with hand tools, restoring landscaping, laying fiber innerduct, pulling fiber through existing ducts, operating heavy equipment and excavation trucks, operating pipe and cable locators, measuring and recording installed quantities of fiber, assisting on overall job tasks to build and install a site per customer specifications, and maintaining a clean, orderly environment adhering to company policies and industry regulations (OSHA).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-2 years of experience with ability to take direction and learn from experience
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Ability to use and take care of hand tools and mechanical equipment
• Ability and interest in performing work in the field
• Demonstrated willingness to learn
• Physical ability to lift 75+lbs.
• Comfortable working in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
• Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the general public
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time (travel required is 50% to include overnight).
• Ability to be covered by company auto insurance plan

Responsibilities

• Dig holes, work with hand tools, restore landscaping
• Lay fiber innerduct and pull fiber through existing ducts
• Operate heavy equipment and excavation truck
• Operate pipe and cable locators and mark underground utilities
• Measure and record installed quantities of fiber
• Assist on overall job including all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specifications
• Maintain clean, orderly environment adhering to company policies and industry regulation/standard(s) (OSHA)
