About The Position

This is a DoD SkillBridge Internship opportunity for active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the program, in collaboration with Vets2PM's authorized DOD SkillBridge program. Siemens, a global technology company, is offering this internship to provide hands-on experience in their Smart Buildings sector, focusing on areas like Building Automation (HVAC Controls, Lighting Controls, & Mechanical/Electrical Services), Fire/Life Safety (Fire Alarm, Mass/Emergency Communication, and Sprinkler/Suppression), and Security (Integrated Surveillance and Access Controls). Upon successful completion, interns may have the opportunity to join Siemens. The Field Technician/Specialist role is customer-facing, involving the maintenance, repair, or installation of electronic control systems to help customers save energy and create a more sustainable future. Interns will gain experience in diagnosing system malfunctions, consulting with internal teams, and interfacing with customers, including documentation, training, and recommending system enhancements.

Requirements

• Only active military personnel will be considered for this internship and program acceptance requires military approval.
• Selected candidates will continue to be paid under their current wage/benefits provided by the US Military and will not be paid by Siemens directly throughout internship participation.
• High school diploma or state-recognized GED required.
• Demonstrated experience and/or applied knowledge/aptitude in technical experience supporting mechanical, electrical, thermodynamic, hydraulic, mechatronic, or other related systems.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written).
• Demonstrated ability to interface with customers and collaborate with team members.
• Ability to work on-site and travel locally as needed.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
• Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with limited violations.

Nice To Haves

• U.S. Military experience as an E5 or above preferred (Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Guard, Reserves).
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in demand-side energy services or Certified Energy Manager preferred.
• Familiarity or experience with engineering HVAC, Building Automation, Fire Alarm, or Security systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with customers to diagnose HVAC/Building Automation, Fire/Life Safety, or Integrated Security electronic control system malfunctions.
• Maintain, repair, or install new equipment and commission systems.
• Consult with internal engineering and management teams for discrepancies or problems.
• Interface with customers by completing service work documentation.
• Assist customers with training instructions for ease-of-use.
• Recommend system enhancements to provide a value-added partner relationship.
