About The Position

Field Technician III is an expert-level hands-on technician responsible for on-site pump and mechanical seal repair activities. This role possesses field service expertise with responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of pump repair and rotating equipment services. This position serves as the primary technician on-site, supports continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction through accurate diagnostics, repair execution, and clear communication of findings and recommendations.

Requirements

  • 4 – 6 years of relevant experience in pump repair, mechanical seals, or industrial maintenance.
  • Background in millwright work, rotating equipment, or industrial mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of repair for mechanical seal assembly, rotating equipment/pump systems.
  • Proven experience in field service or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift equipment and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Willingness to work on-call or flexible schedules based on business need
  • Technical industrial experience
  • Mechanical Seal/Pump assembly and/or product knowledge
  • Mechanical ability and light machining experience
  • Industrial process experience
  • Possesses knowledge of subject matter.
  • Performs work under minimal supervision.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. Exposure to high levels of heat or noise may occur while in the customer plant environment. Responsibilities

  • Execute pump and mechanical seal repair activities including disassembly, inspection, rebuilding, and testing to manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive solutions to customers.
  • Conduct customer equipment surveys and document equipment condition and performance.
  • Apply knowledge in mechanical systems, seals, and rotating equipment to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Assemble and test mechanical seals and sub-assemblies, including engineered and non-standard solutions.
  • Complete all repairs to quality standards by using inspection and testing (pressure/vacuum testing, dimensional checks).
  • Technical Services – laser alignment, vibration analysis, abrasive coatings application
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Work in industrial environments including confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent travel with extended stays as needed.
  • Required to train other product technician personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, safety regulations, and environmental policies in both field and shop environments.
  • Maintain and enforce quality control measures across assembly, repair, and testing processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, process improvements).
  • Maintain clean, organized work environments in accordance with company standards.
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for sales, shop and customers.
  • Communicate repair status, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
  • Prepare service reports, maintain accurate equipment records, and document as-built configurations.
  • Track parts usage, inventory, and job-related materials.
  • Work directly and efficiently with customer service staff, direct sales force, distributors and end users.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols.
  • Identify and report safety hazards and incidents in both field and shop settings.
  • Utilize proper PPE and safety equipment, including hoists and lifting devices
