About The Position

As a Field Technician II at SCS Engineers, you will have a working knowledge of the terminology, processes, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) of various environmental control systems. You will report to a senior-level supervisor, such as a Project Superintendent or a Project Manager. You will demonstrate knowledge and ability to operate and maintain gas collection systems on a cost-effective basis to keep systems operating and in compliance with different prescribed operating parameters and goals. This includes routine wellfield balancing and maintenance, routine blower/flare operations, condensate management system operations and maintenance, and surface emissions monitoring. You will also have a working knowledge of and compliance with SCS policies and procedures, with a primary focus on the SCS Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), the SCS Quality Management System, and the SCS Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics. You will take on more responsibility when working with senior staff in the planning and execution of assigned tasks, including daily Crew Activity Plans (CAP), monitoring, and/or adjustment of various environmental control system components. You will perform moderate-level maintenance and repairs of various environmental control system components, conduct field observations/actions and report them via field notes and daily logs. Under the direction of a supervisor, you may prepare verbal and written client communications. You will utilize field instruments to measure required environmental control system data, including calibration and proper care and handling. You will perform environmental sampling using collection canisters and Tedlar bags and be trained in the preparation of chain of custody documents for shipment. You will conduct preliminary reviews of collected data with supervisor oversight and communicate these reviews for further direction. You will perform operational adjustments to environmental control system components in conjunction with preliminary data review results. You will utilize the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials to maintain and repair environmental control system components. You will assist Laborers, Field Technician I, Senior Field Technicians, or other staff with removal and servicing of landfill liquids pumps. You will provide limited direction to vendors or subcontractors following authorization by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of environmental control system OM&M experience is required.
  • Working knowledge in the use of various computer/technology skills including Smartphones, Tablets, and Microsoft Office Programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing.
  • Must meet physical requirements and pass a human performance evaluation (HPE).
  • Physical requirements include driving (pick-up truck), walking inspection of improved and unimproved property, lifting, and carrying equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), hand excavation/digging (using shovels/picks), carrying, and climbing ladders, operating manlifts and working from man lifts, operating electric tools (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.) and providing services under varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities
