As a Field Technician I, you will join a team of experienced technicians supporting critical network infrastructure in the West Sacramento market. This entry-level opportunity is designed for individuals who are eager to learn, comfortable with technology, and interested in developing long-term technical skills through structured training and on-the-job experience. Working primarily from the Gateway location, you will support network operations, maintenance activities, inventory management, installations, and facility upkeep while learning the fundamentals of telecommunications infrastructure. This role offers a clear development path with training, mentorship, and opportunities to advance into customer and network installation support.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years of relevant job experience including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
- Entry-level technician with experience and/or knowledge of at least one of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant (Fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.).
- Must have PC skills and be well versed in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Must possess the ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
- On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis, on stand-by, call out, dispatch, and overtime are required as dictated by the business.
- A valid driver’s license
- Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; lift 50 lbs.; works in all weather conditions
Nice To Haves

- Familiarity with ticketing systems or work order management processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to learn fiber testing, light-level measurements, network systems, and telecommunications test equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Support daily operations and maintenance activities under the direction of the Lead Technician.
- Assist with cable runs, equipment installations, and site preparation activities.
- Perform facility maintenance, housekeeping, and cleanup to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Manage warehouse inventory, materials, and equipment tracking.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving activities for tools, equipment, and network materials.
- Provide support for service tickets and routine operational tasks.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities on generators, battery systems, and HVAC equipment.
- Participate in training programs and progressively support customer and network installation activities as skills develop.
