Drops Technician
About The Position
Visionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fill the role of Field Technician Fiber Drops. This full-time, hourly position will join the wireless team at Visionary Broadband, a division of Visionary Communications, Inc., one of the top service providers in the region. Visionary is often on the cutting edge of new technology deployments and works in a multitude of different situations with many different entities. A successful candidate will be a critical thinker, willing to both come up with new solutions and work with existing team members to collaborate on a best way forward in unique situations.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, as well as ability to quickly learn and work within proprietary computer applications.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities
- Must be willing to travel within the region 50% of the time (hotels and per diem paid for out of town travel).
Nice To Haves
- A valid driver's license and be insurable to drive a company vehicle is preferred.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard 8am-5pm hours and be willing to travel on a weekly basis.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently install underground cables in residential and commercial environments.
- Use best practices for installing underground wiring so as not to violate local building codes.
- Operate various trenching equipment such as a mini skid steer or walk beside trencher.
- Locate existing buried copper and fiber facilities and comply with 811 requirements (OneCall) before any digging projects, properly identifying other utility flags and safely working around other utilities.
- Load reel trailers with strand, fiber or cable as required.
- Bury cable and conduit systems, by operating blowing, plowing, digging, boring, and trenching equipment and pulling fiber and cable through conduit systems.
- Safely and efficiently install overhead cables in residential and commercial environments.
- Use best practices for installing underground wiring so as not to violate local codes and regulations or customer specs.
- Hang overhead cable or strand using various methods including but not limited to a ladder, bucket truck, or gaffs.
- Pull fiber and cable through conduit systems
