About The Position

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking an Entry-Level Field Technician to join their Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Tampa, FL. This role offers a great opportunity for career growth in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek's Building and Construction division provides industry-leading services across various A/E/C disciplines, focusing on innovative product and project solutions. Their services include assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of developments, assets, and facilities. Intertek-PSI is a prominent US-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection in civil and commercial construction, offering services such as construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in the construction / concrete industry is required.
  • Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Computer Skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Must be able to read and understand work plans.
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required).

Nice To Haves

  • H.S. Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Experience performing field and/or laboratory construction materials testing is preferred, but not required.
  • ACI/ICC/FLDOT certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
  • Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (e.g., Soil, concrete, or other) and provides assessment of data through reporting.
  • Works utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
  • Uses specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
  • Make detailed observations and gives limited interpretation of results.
  • Maintains detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
  • Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
