About The Position

A Fusion Technician 1 is a safety conscious, hardworking individual that is dedicated to helping customers with their HDPE fusion needs. Technicians perform tasks involving physical labor on customer jobsites and in-house at different Milford branches. This includes operating fusion equipment, hand tools, power tools, and assisting with various tasks. Whether working alone with or with a small team, our technicians have the professionalism and technical skill to get the job done right.

Requirements

  • Safety Conscious
  • Ability to perform and obtain fusion certificate on HDPE pipe up to 18” within 14 calendar days
  • Complete PEC training.
  • Excellent customer services skills.
  • Professionalism.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Operation of company vehicle
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions
  • Verbal/Written Communication
  • Proficient with technology such as email and phone applications
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to read GPS Coordinates for site locations
  • 2 years of related experience, preferred.
  • Ability to pass safety and fusion training courses and maintain certifications
  • Ability to obtain client specific safety training
  • Ability to stand, sit, stoop, reach with arms, kneel and push/pull/lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk long distances in rough terrain.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing ramps or stairs.
  • Must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.
  • Ability to wear PPE.
  • Prolonged periods sitting while driving.
  • Must be able to physically perform repairs in various environments
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Good vision to inspect repair work.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level.
  • Keyboarding.
  • Driving (and ability to maintain valid driver’s license and pass MVR in accordance with insurance requirements)
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Standing for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow all safety policies and apply good safety practices
  • Perform pre-operation equipment inspections per machine before each use
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment, such as small engine trucks, forklifts, and aerial lifts
  • Mobilization support, as needed, of company equipment
  • Keep work area, company vehicles, and equipment clean
  • Ability to perform fusions on HDPE pipe and fittings per industry standards
  • Determine whether final product meets quality control standards
  • Ability to operate a fusion data recording device
  • Operate Small/Med. diameter squeeze tools (Up to 12”)
  • Assist with operation of Large diameter squeeze tools (Up to 24”)
  • Basic fabrication of HDPE components such as risers, tee’s, manifolds, etc.
  • Complete detailed daily field reports
  • Report any equipment maintenance schedules and repairs to Technical Service Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
