About The Position

Kokosing is seeking a Field Surveyor to join their team. The Field Surveyor will lead or be part of a survey crew, depending on experience. This role involves working closely with Kokosing supervision to provide layouts for all facets of heavy civil construction. The position is located onsite full-time at the New Lock at the Soo project in Sault Ste Marie, MI. Kokosing is one of America's 50 largest General Contractors with over 75 years of experience in heavy civil/industrial construction, including highways, bridges, underground utilities, water/wastewater facilities, and marine construction. Requirements

Experience working as a surveyor, ideally on heavy civil construction projects.
Knowledge of field survey engineering methods/techniques and survey/GPS instruments.
Proficiency using surveying equipment including levels, robotic instruments, and GPS receivers.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Basic computer skills with willingness to learn and expand knowledge.
Willingness to learn new surveying techniques.
Must be able to climb ladders, work around traffic, and work in all types of weather conditions.
Must be physically able to work in the field in various field conditions and travel across rough, uneven surfaces.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Work with Project Managers, Engineers, and other Team Members to coordinate surveying activities for the projects.
Operate Trimble Total Stations and GPS equipment.
Prioritize layout and execute it in an efficient and timely manner.
Provide input on surveying to satisfy the project’s accuracy requirements.
Communicate effectively explaining the layout provided.
Comply with safety regulations, company standards, and government guidelines.
