About The Position

Gallo Mechanical is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Field Survey/Layout Operator to join its Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team. The role involves setting up and operating Trimble Robotic Total Stations and GNSS receivers, laying out mechanical and plumbing elements, and managing layout files. The ideal candidate has a background in construction logistics, is comfortable with construction technology, and can use field layout equipment. The position requires travel to various job sites when needed.

Requirements

• Experience operating Robotic Total Stations or similar construction layout systems.
• Knowledge of construction logistics and layout processes.
• Proficiency using layout software and managing point data files.
• Comfort working with computer files, including .csv, .dwg, .tflx, and .rvt, and with construction technology tools.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and models.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel when needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with Trimble FieldLink or similar layout software.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Trimble Robotic Total Stations and GNSS equipment on construction sites.
• Collect and verify control points to ensure accurate layout.
• Import, manage, and maintain point file data from project drawings and models.
• Lay out pipe systems, hangers, and floor penetrations.
• Communicate with the Field Technology Manager, project managers, and field teams.
• Travel to various job sites when needed.
