About The Position

The University of New Mexico’s Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) is excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced, professional, and customer service-focused individuals to join our Transportation Division as Field Supervisors, Bus Services. At UNM PATS, we play a vital role in supporting the University’s mission of education, research, and service by safely transporting more than 1.8 million riders annually, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors across campus and surrounding areas. The Field Supervisor, Bus Services position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a complete shift of bus drivers operating multiple campus transit routes. This role is essential to maintaining safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for the UNM community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain a Valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • As a CDL driver, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must obtain passenger endorsement to CDL within 90 days from date of hire.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience supervising, leading, and coaching bus drivers within a transportation environment
  • At least five (5) years of experience operating large passenger buses (minimum 40-passenger capacity)
  • At least five (5) years of experience leading and supervising 10 or more personnel within a transportation operation, or progressive leadership experience supervising teams of 10 or more employees
  • Direct experience supervising employees represented under collective bargaining agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and discretion at all times
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize resources and operational needs effectively
  • Transportation safety certification(s)
  • Experience providing training and guidance to CDL drivers
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor large teams

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of bus drivers during assigned shifts
  • Monitor route operations and ensure efficient transportation services
  • Provide leadership, guidance, training, and operational support to drivers and staff
  • Coordinate transportation support for University special events and campus activities
  • Assist with operational coverage by driving a shuttle bus when required
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and service expectations
  • Respond to operational issues, schedule adjustments, and service needs in real time
