About The Position

The Field Support Technician (FST) is primarily responsible for traveling to customer locations within their service area to repair proprietary equipment when dispatched by the customer-facing Service Desk. The Service Desk will handle initial customer contacts and incidents, providing remote support to the FST for equipment repairs. The equipment includes networking components, public-facing kiosks, and vending machines (both mechanical and IT related). Technicians may store some parts locally or in their vehicles for quick repairs. The Service Desk can also configure and ship equipment from corporate if needed for installation or repair.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have T-1 and analog circuit repair knowledge.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of multiple network disciplines and perform advanced network diagnostics to isolate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Must be able to develop good working relationships with facility personnel.
  • Service and maintain inmate phone systems at correctional facilities within an assigned region.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned territory as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong team oriented business skill.
  • Professional attitude in dealing with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Excellent communication with customers and while working with the Service Desk, regional staff, and peers.
  • Diagnose, test, repair and replace kiosks, pc’s, vending machines, networking equipment, and other IT equipment located within Jails and Prisons.
  • Work with Service Desk team on preventative maintenance and walk throughs.
  • Use provided company car to travel to customer locations within service area.
  • Update Work Order (WO) module with travel time, notes on work performed and WO resolution.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and components and our product offerings evolve.
  • Travel into Saint Louis as needed for hands on training with equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
