Field Support Technician | HOU

ZiplineHouston, TX
Onsite

About The Position

As a Field Support Technician, you will keep Zipline DropBoxes partner pickup locations where orders are loaded into Zipline aircraft for delivery—safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations. Your work centers on site systems and equipment, not aircraft maintenance. You will own the condition of assigned regional sites: inspecting equipment, completing preventive maintenance and basic repairs, documenting work, and escalating issues beyond established procedures. Strong performance means sites meet Zipline’s operational and quality standards, preventive work is completed, records are timely, and issues have clear ownership through resolution or handoff.

Requirements

  • Hands-on mechanical or technical aptitude for light maintenance, basic repairs, and structured troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize assigned site work, and follow technical instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Strong ownership, reliability, attention to detail, and judgment to recognize when an issue requires escalation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including professional onsite interactions with customers and partners.
  • Comfort using smartphones, mobile applications, and digital tools to record work and communicate updates.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 36 months, plus a reliable personal vehicle for regional travel.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather; availability Tuesday–Saturday, Sunday-Thursday or Thursday-Monday for a six-month contract.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect assigned DropBoxes and maintain clean, organized, safe, operational sites that meet Zipline standards.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on DropBox systems and site equipment using established procedures.
  • Complete basic repairs and light maintenance within approved procedures; escalate issues requiring specialized technical support or decisions.
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues, identify hazards or deficiencies, and take appropriate action to protect safe operations.
  • Document inspections, maintenance, repairs, site conditions, and escalations accurately and on time using mobile tools.
  • Coordinate with Zipline teams, customers, and partner representatives to communicate site status and follow issues through resolution or handoff.
  • Travel between assigned regional sites and support other regional locations as business needs require.
