About The Position

The Field Support Specialist provides technical, product, and sales support to current and new customers to facilitate sales growth. This role involves expanding the sales and use of VSP products by identifying sealing needs and cost-saving opportunities in new and existing clients. The specialist will coordinate with the Sealing Specialist and Regional Sales Manager to offer customer support across various VSP industries, including Industrial and Transportation markets. They will also provide direct support to VSP personnel and prepare and present on-site or virtual training classes to customers, discovering opportunities for sealing solutions and cost savings through these classes, walk and talks, and problem-solving. The role requires being on-site regularly, conducting on-site storeroom surveys, and aiding in onboarding new contracts and maintaining existing agreements, including vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and consignment. The Field Support Specialist will help plant engineers anticipate needs, minimize downtime, and improve efficiency during scheduled shutdowns, acting as the customer's fluid sealing trusted advisor by answering technical questions. They will also coordinate with Marketing to develop customer reference documents and provide operational support to branches within their region, including fabrication, deliveries, and pick-ups. Working closely with corporate administration and operations management, they will meet and exceed customer service expectations and establish relationships with non-customers through referrals. Identifying key influencers on the plant's/corporate engineering team and building trust through expert field knowledge is crucial. The role involves documenting the cost impact of their work and solutions for the plants, utilizing Salesforce, and projecting a favorable image of the company. Maintaining a positive working relationship with all employees and adhering to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience and/or training related to job functions
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) proficiency
  • Must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and their own dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Expand the sales and use of VSP products through the identification of sealing needs and cost savings opportunities in new and existing clients
  • Coordinate with Sealing Specialist and the Regional Sales Manager to provide customer support within all VSP industries, including, but not limited to, Industrial and Transportation markets
  • Provide direct support to VSP personnel, including Sealing Specialists, Product & Application Engineers, Business Unit Directors, Support Services, and Operations Support Specialists and/or Branch Managers.
  • Prepare and present on-site or virtual training classes to customers
  • Discover opportunities to provide sealing solutions and cost savings through your training classes, walk and talks, problem-solving, etc.
  • Be on-site and available on a regular basis
  • Conduct on-site storeroom surveys at customer locations
  • Aid in onboarding new contracts and maintaining existing agreements, including vendor-managed inventory VMI and consignment
  • Help plant engineers anticipate needs by getting them to think about and plan how to minimize downtime as well as to be more efficient during scheduled shutdowns
  • Become the customer's fluid sealing trusted advisor by answering questions such as torque calculations for the staff of the plant and third-party contractors
  • Coordinate with Marketing to develop customer reference documents, including visual aids, such as gasket boards and pocket cards
  • Provide operational support to the branches within the assigned region, including fabrication, deliveries, and pick-ups
  • Work closely with corporate administration and operations management to meet and exceed the customer’s service expectations
  • Establish a relationship with non-customers through referrals from existing customers
  • Identify key influencers on the plant's/corporate engineering team and establish trust and rapport through expert field knowledge ensuring that your customer understands all that VSP has to offer
