About The Position

The Field Support Representative provides hands-on technical support to existing customers and prospects using membrane systems (Ultrafiltration (UF), Microfiltration (MF), Nanofiltration (NF), and Reverse Osmosis (RO)). This role is responsible for executing field service activities, including troubleshooting, plant surveys and pretreatment assessments, sampling, pilot commissioning and start-up, membrane cleanings, chemical changeovers, operator training, system repairs, and performance optimization. The Field Support Representative serves as a key technical representative of AWC in the field and is expected to deliver high-quality support with technical expertise, professionalism, responsiveness, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited university or college or has completed received a technical certification from a accredited program, or 5 + years of experience in water treatment/wastewater
  • Strong understanding of membrane technology and water treatment processes, including pretreatment, MF/UF, and NF/RO systems.
  • Hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, commissioning, servicing, and optimizing membrane treatment systems.
  • Working knowledge of pumps, valves, instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems associated with water treatment equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve field issues.
  • Understanding of membrane fouling, scaling, pretreatment, and chemical cleaning, including hands-on experience performing NF/RO Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures (MF/UF CIP experience preferred).
  • Ability to interpret operating data and system performance to identify problems and optimization opportunities.
  • Experience using, maintaining, and calibrating field testing equipment and instrumentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports and communicate recommendations to customers.
  • Professional, customer-focused, and able to build effective relationships with plant personnel, engineers, contractors, customers, and internal teams.
  • Organized, resourceful, and able to work independently while adapting to changing field conditions and travel schedules.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel frequently, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive, professional field support to existing customers and prospects.
  • Perform plant surveys, system evaluations, troubleshooting, and pretreatment assessments to identify operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collect water, membrane, deposit, and other samples for laboratory analysis and assist with membrane removal/offloading for autopsies when required.
  • Perform and support membrane system cleanings (CIPs), chemical changeovers, commissioning, start-ups, and system optimization.
  • Commission, operate, monitor, clean, and maintain AWC pilot systems at customer sites.
  • Monitor membrane system performance and operating data and communicate findings and recommendations to the Applications and Technical Sales teams.
  • Provide customers with appropriate technical guidance on membrane system operation, chemical programs, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with plant operators and customer personnel by providing professional, responsive, and solutions-oriented technical support.
  • Follow up on field visits and recommendations to help ensure identified issues are addressed and customers receive appropriate ongoing support.
  • Identify and communicate customer needs, system concerns, and opportunities for additional AWC technical services or chemical solutions to the Technical Sales and Applications teams.
  • Prepare thoroughly for field visits and ensure required documentation, tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials are available and ready.
  • Complete and distribute field service reports, recommendations, and customer sign-off documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate closely with Technical Sales, Applications, Inside Sales, and Field Services to ensure customer needs and field findings are communicated and appropriately followed up.
  • Perform field activities in accordance with AWC procedures, safety requirements, and company standards.
  • Represent AWC professionally at customer and prospect sites and ensure on-site work is completed to the satisfaction of the customer or their designated representative.
  • Participate in company training to maintain and expand knowledge of membrane treatment, AWC products, field service procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
