About The Position

The Bonanza Fuel’s Field Supervisor directly supervises the Lead Fuel Truck Driver and staff, Tank Farm Operator, Lead Mechanic, Propane Operator, and oversees all aspects of the Bonanza Fuel’s fuel truck delivery operation, tank farm, and propane operations. This role is responsible for overseeing safe and efficient operations, establishing daily work schedules, maintaining good working relationships, ensuring compliance with regulations and safe work practices, completing employee evaluations, ensuring completion of work in the absence of staff or managers, completing special projects, providing snow removal, and serving as the on-site safety officer for all BFI operations, including spill response training and site clean-up operations. The position requires a constant state of alertness and safe work practices, with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of local Nome delivery area.
  • Familiarity and experience with fuel truck, propane, and tank farm operations.
  • Ability to operate successful numerous types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to fuel and propane trucks, loaders, dozers, and other construction type equipment.
  • Excellent supervisory skills and successful history of at least three years of similar supervisory experience.
  • Ability to identify problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situation where the problems is not difficult or complex.

  • High School diploma or GED (General Education Degree).
  • Three years previous supervisory experience.
  • Valid Alaska Commercial Driver’s License required with the following three endorsements: Hazmat, Air Brakes, and Tanker Endorsements.
  • Current driver qualifications for a CDL as defined the State of Alaska and Department of Transportation.
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License medical certificate required.
  • Current 40 hour hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certificate required.
  • Clean CDL driving record required.
  • Minimum of five years of successful transporting hazardous materials, esp. petroleum.
  • Ability to pass a background screening and credit check.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees safe and efficient operations of Bonanza Fuel tank farm, propane, and truck delivery operations.
  • Establishes daily work schedules for three departments to ensure prompt completion of required tasks.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all Bonanza Fuel managers and staff.
  • Supervises the three departments to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safe work practices.
  • Completes employee evaluations of all direct reports.
  • Ensures completion of work in the absence of staff or managers, either personally or delegated to other qualified personnel including after hour call-out duties.
  • Completes special projects assigned by either the Bonanza Fuel CEO or SNC President/CEO.
  • Provides snow removal for all SNC buildings and operations.
  • Serves as the on-site safety officer for all BFI operations, including spill response training and site clean-up operations.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
