About The Position

TAK Broadband is seeking a Field Supervisor to oversee fiber optic construction work in the greater Tacoma, WA area, covering projects in Tacoma and Mt Vernon. This role involves directing day-to-day field operations for aerial and underground fiber construction, training and guiding field employees, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and reporting. The Field Supervisor will also act as a primary point of contact for residents, manage job-site impact, build relationships with local municipalities, and ensure the implementation of company tracking methods for productivity measurement.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in the telecommunications fiber or construction industry
  • Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction required
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (equipment management, cost control, scheduling, and safety)
  • A high school diploma, GED skills, or equivalent education certification is required (an equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the position)
  • Experience supervising/dispatching construction crews
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications and industry relevant software
  • Requires deep knowledge of construction practices
  • Experience with machine and equipment operation with safety protocols
  • Able to perform duties in telecommunications construction such as pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction
  • Must demonstrate competency of reading and written communications skills sufficient to work safely with equipment and process requirements
  • Ability to carry, climb, operate, and work upon an extension ladder (approximately 28 feet high and 75 pounds), ability to climb poles or other structures as needed.
  • Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces or elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and working while standing up to 70% of the time, year round
  • Ability to safely work and navigate various terrains, managing equipment, safety equipment and tools
  • Ability to work with a noise level from moderate to loud
  • Exposure to outdoor all-weather conditions with limited protection from weather elements, including exposure to high heat, wind and rain
  • Exposure to hazards in worksite conditions, such as proximity to equipment in operation, moving vehicles, all underground utilities, including gas and electrical current and working with excavating shoring
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary point of contact for residents, addressing concerns and driving resolution through completion
  • Builds and maintains relationships with local municipalities, jurisdictions, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and smooth project execution
  • Owns job-site impact mitigation, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding communities
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing safety measures on every aerial and underground fiber construction project
  • Promotes safety awareness among employees and assures compliance with safety regulations and reporting
  • Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the “Company Values”
  • Directs the day-to-day field operations through Foremen and Subcontractors, providing necessary technical guidance and leadership
  • Trains and guides field employees to keep up with daily operational needs
  • Ensures Company tracking methods and systems are implemented to measure productivity levels, coordinate with fleet and tool management
  • Works with field employees on assigned construction projects
  • Communicates with management and team members
  • Promotes an environment of integrity and accountability and provides coaching and training to crews
  • Completes performance reviews for field employees to provide feedback and coaching
  • Other job duties as assigned
